ReplyDeleteYeah, well, if you read the "rebuttal" carefully, it's not really debunking anything. It's focusing on details that don't change the actual premise. Sure the path of the sun and the planets is wobblier than it is shown in the GIF. The GIF is meant to describe in broad strokes what is happening. Don't miss the forest for the trees.
DeleteHaving said that, there is a benefit to the rebuttal too. Those details become important if you want to apply the broad strokes knowledge. I just don't like the dismissive attitude they contain, especially because they are not actually debunking anything.
No, Dr. Plait rather nicely kills the helix as presented. Too bad that we don't have an animation of the actual state of things. It would look very different--not so much like a firework. Sadhu's videos are of excellent quality--as videos if not as educational materials, although his audio on #2 leaves some to be desired. Was it recorded from an LP that the made? One can hear the clicks and pops--not very common in audio these days.
DeleteThey are really amazing and artistic kind of things I wonder who created I am also a designer and Web service Provider so this is a terric job done wow !
ReplyDeleteThose gifs were really fun to look at, especially the looping ones :U

Nice,educative videos.
ReplyDeleteThe Solar System one is still not actually correct. The planets don't revolve around the sun all on one plane. they go all around. I'm pretty sure. I could be wrong... But that's never happened before.
ReplyDeleteI find it relaxing, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThere's something wrong with the sewing machine illustration. How does only one stand of thread (yellow) get wrapped around the bobin thread (green)?
